Afghanistan President Hamid Karzai wants to throw out the first pitch at Fenway Park tomorrow night, posing a potential security nightmare for tens of thousands of Red Sox fans.
``If it happens, he will do the first pitch in a game on Saturday,'' said Ashraf Haidari, spokesman for the Afghani embassy in Washington, D.C.
Karzai will be in Boston to speak at Boston University's commencement Sunday.
He has asked to throw out the first pitch at the Red Sox-Braves game tomorrow evening, but Haidari acknowledged the nightmare security logistics are a concern that could hold up the event.

Karzai wants his turn on the baseball diamond because the sport is so popular in America and would help him appeal to the American people, his spokesman said.
